How Insurance Companies Should Evaluate a Lead Generation Agency
Provider comparisons need one commercial definition. Separate quote or advice enquiry from product and eligibility verified, then ask each provider to show how accepted demand reaches bound policy.
Our bias is clear because we provide this service. Even so, the buyer should retain account custody, source records, and enough detail to challenge every recommendation after the engagement ends.
Ask to see the work behind the promise
Give the provider a bounded sample of account and CRM evidence. Ask what it would change first and what it still cannot know. Google Analytics recommended events documentation defines a relevant platform control that should appear in that diagnosis.
The contract should name administrative access, deliverables, meeting cadence, response expectations, approval rights, data ownership, subcontractors, security responsibilities, notice, and transition support. It should also name who performs the work after the sale.
We prefer a narrow, falsifiable first plan over a large forecast. The plan should identify the measurement risks, demand-quality risks, capacity constraints, and evidence needed for the next budget decision.
Lead volume is not the commercial record
The account should use four explicit stages: quote or advice enquiry, product and eligibility verified, completed quote or adviser meeting, and bound policy. The distinction between accepted demand and ineligible, duplicate, or unsupported product request belongs to the licensed sales team; the ad platform cannot infer that policy from a form submission.
Google Analytics names separate events for generated, qualified, disqualified, working, and closed leads. See the Google Analytics recommended events documentation. That mechanism becomes commercially useful only after the business supplies its own qualification rule.
Capture who changed each status, when it changed, and why. A durable record prevents acquisition waste from being confused with a sale that was simply lost later.
Put account ownership in writing
Google supports hashed first-party lead data and CRM outcome imports to connect later lead stages with earlier ad interactions. See the Google enhanced conversions for leads documentation. In practice, the scope must explain how the operator inspects that control and what happens after the review. The measurement scope needs durable source identifiers, tested events, consent handling, CRM stage mapping, revenue values, and duplicate controls. It should connect the first interaction with bound policy without relying on a manual guess.
Account access, conversion tests, lead rejection rules, CRM reconciliation, and the decision log should be named deliverables. If creative or landing-page changes sit outside the fee, the proposal should say who performs them and how that dependency affects the schedule.
The forecast should use the client's own geography, offer, capacity, close rate, and qualification policy. Platform averages cannot replace those inputs.
Build the budget from the sale backward
Use an illustrative planning case, not a market benchmark. Suppose each bound policy produces $18,439 in first-year collected revenue at a 70% gross margin. If 25% of product and eligibility verified records close and the business can spend 75% of expected gross profit on acquisition, the calculation is $18,439 × 70% × 25% × 75%.
That produces a maximum of $2,420 per qualified lead before a safety margin. Replace every assumption with finance and CRM data, then account for overhead, payment delay, refunds, bad debt, and capacity. Run the calculation again when any input changes.
Public averages cannot set the threshold for this program. A long sales cycle may also require cohort reporting because current spend can create a later bound policy.
Use the CRM to check the advertising story
Preserve disagreements instead of averaging them away. If analytics records a success while the licensed sales team rejects the same enquiry as ineligible, duplicate, or unsupported product request, keep both records, the identifier that joins them, and the reason for the final classification.
LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms can prefill professional profile data, report form results in Campaign Manager, and connect with CRM systems. See the LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms product documentation.
These sources are evidence for the platform setup, not a performance promise. Current account access, sales outcomes, and controlled tests are still required.
Check the plan against real account data
Request an insurance lead-generation teardown. The teardown follows current account evidence from quote or advice enquiry to bound policy and ranks the first changes. The document is yours even if the engagement stops there.
